Take Action Tuesday

This week's TAT is another one concerning health. This is prompted by a personal experience. I found out over the weekend that a member of my family had a stroke while on vacation. She didn't know it was a stroke at the time and had never had one. Thanks to some fast-acting people around her she got to the hospital in a timely manner and got the medication so urgently needed. The trick is she didn't think it was very serious and didn't want the ambulance to be called. This is where you TAKE ACTION! The National Stroke Association has a plan to act F.A.S.T. This is an acronym to remember the warning signs.

Act F.A.S.T.

FACE

Ask the person to smile.

Does one side of the face droop?

ARMS

Ask the person to raise both arms.

Does one arm drift downward?

SPEECH

Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.

Are the words slurred? Can he/she repeat the sentence correctly?

TIME

If the person shows any of these symptoms, time is important.

Call 911 or get to the hospital fast. Brain cells are dying.

Please review this information. You can also visit The National Stroke Association and the American Heart Association for additional information. You could save a life!

Great imagery!

I found this entry on one of the blogs I read and LOVED it! As I mention in my entry from yesterday I love voting and election night! It was very exciting to read all over the blogosphere about Election Day. Earlier today I was trying to figure out why. I likened it to a football game. There is so much excitement at the beginning and both teams are positive they are going to win. Then as the game is played, story lines develop and things happen. By the fourth quarter you're exhausted and the game is either a blowout or nail-bitingly close. Right now, at just after 9 p.m. it seems we're nearing halftime. Can't wait to see the second half! I Hope you voted today!

Take Action Tuesday (a little early)

This week's TAT is a no-brainer-VOTE, vote, vote, vote, vote! BUT there is a twist. I challenge you to find out information about the other races you'll be voting on-Governor, State House/Senate, Commissioners, etc. I don't like to be an uninformed voter. It took awhile but I found the local newspaper had a lot of good information about the candidates. I could even put in my zip code and get a list of the positions that I would encounter in the voting booth. If you live in Indiana, especially Indianapolis start here. It appears the candidates themselves have provided the information and answered questions. If you don't live in Indiana, I encourage you to research your local resources.
I'm so excited about the election tomorrow. I've always loved Election Night, I remember waking up numerous times in the night in 2000 to see if they had called the winner for President yet. I'm really excited that so many people are getting out and exercising there civil rights! Happy Voting!
